John,
Our movement knows that health care is a human right, but our current government systems continue to fail to meet the needs of our communities. Tens of millions are without health insurance in our country, and countless others are drowning in medical debt.
That's why legislation like Medicare for All is so critical, John. M4A says in clear, undeniable terms that health care is a human right — and that's why Jamaal is proud to join Reps. Pramila Jayapal and other progressive Democrats to reintroduce the Medicare for All Act in Congress.
Medicare for All will bring bold and sweeping transformation to our health care system, ensuring that everyone has the care they need — not just folks who can afford it.
The American health care system has a longstanding history of putting profits over our health and safety. The U.S. pays more per capita for health care than any other country in the world, yet more than 87 million people are uninsured or underinsured.
Access to affordable and quality health care shouldn't be a matter of political affiliation, John. We need both Democratic and Republican leadership to prioritize people over partisan ideologies and profits. By passing Medicare For All, we would ensure that no one in our country is subjected to enormous medical debt, and that all Americans have equitable access to life-sustaining care and resources.
It's up to us to help build support and amplify the call for changes to our health care systems and passing Medicare For All is a major step towards this goal.
In solidarity,
Team Bowman
