Wisconsin senator Ron Johnson, a chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, dismissed the Capitol riot on January 6, saying that it “didn't seem like an armed insurrection to me.” He's used radio shows, news outlets, and even the Senate floor to call the event “jovial” and “festive” -- and he's fed into a conspiracy theory that Trump supporters weren't even there. It's no surprise that he voted to acquit the failed former president in his impeachment trial, too.
