That’s right, John: Lois and her Democratic colleagues are proud to have passed one of the most popular bills in years.

This comprehensive legislation is designed to help everyday Americans get through the worst of this pandemic and rebuild our economy from the ground up. Here’s a few highlights from the law:

• It will give Americans $1,400 direct relief checks

• It will provide major funding to increase the speed of vaccinations

• This bill enables us to give out money to reopen schools safely and help students catch up

• It will cut child poverty in half with a monthly child allowance

• It will extend federal unemployment assistance

• It will provide help for renters and homeowners

• It will increase health insurance subsidies to make insurance affordable

It has already been a full year since the COVID-19 pandemic upended our lives and while we aren’t out of the woods yet, this bill will help us get there. From doing the critical work to expand our vaccinations and help Americans stay in their homes, to getting our students safely back to school and cutting child poverty in half — this law is going to support our families.
