| | | | Save the Date! The Embassy of Liechtenstein, Washington D.C. Policy Roundtable Event New Technologies and Cybersecurity: The Role of Gender March 30th, 2021 | 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm EST
Many discussions on gender and new technologies, including cybersecurity, focus on the lack of women in the field. While this is a critical question, this roundtable will focus on what it means to integrate a gender and feminist perspective in discussions around new technologies and cyber security. How does gender influence our thinking about cybersecurity? What are the gendered impacts of lethal autonomous weapons (drones) and how are gender perspectives included in current global governance efforts.

| | | | Women In International Security (WIIS) is pleased to open applications for the 2021 Next Generation Gender, Peace and Security (GPS) Symposium. The WIIS Next Generation Symposium (NGS) is a highly competitive and prestigious program. It is part of a larger WIIS initiative to bridge existing divides between the traditional security community and the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) community.
The 2021 symposium will convene an international cohort of 15 graduate students and young professionals for an unique virtual program examining national and international security challenges from a GPS perspective. The 2021 Symposium will devote particular attention to the nexus of gender and security in three areas: the environmental field, including climate change; terrorism and violent extremism; and emerging technologies, including cybersecurity.
For the 2021 Symposium, 9-11 virtual meetings will be scheduled between June 2021 and March 2022.
Selected participants will become WIIS Next Generation Fellows.

This kickoff event for the new Women Inspired to Serve (WISE) series begins with a fireside chat with the Honorable Michèle Flournoy and the Honorable Ellen Lord, where they will share practical career advice and their individual professional "maps." Virtual networking sessions, pairing small groups of current students and early career professionals with senior defense leaders, will immediately follow the keynote discussion.The WISE conference series seeks to build a dynamic community of women preparing to serve in the international security arena, featuring various career paths, professional development, and networking opportunities throughout government, industry and academia. Student leaders from NDISC, Women in International Security and Girl Security will serve as the fireside chat and small group moderators.
