What is environmental justice?
Environmental justice means the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.
Our senators are taking an important step forward and incorporating environmental justice into climate action. Sen. Saldaña’s HEAL Act just passed through the Senate — it will establish environmental justice requirements, a permanent environmental justice council, and more.
Statistics have shown that people who live, work, and play in America's most polluted environments are most often low-income people or people of color — that’s why it’s so important our legislation addresses these environmental health disparities.
These are the bills that make a difference for Washington’s communities.
