John,
Yesterday, a gunman shot and killed eight people, six of them Asian women, in a shooting rampage across Atlanta. Hate and bigotry are deadly when armed, and we must fight against them if we want to save lives.
John, we are still learning all the facts about this heinous act, but one thing is absolutely clear: There is a deadly link between hate and gun violence. And when our country recorded a record-breaking number of hate crimes in 2019, it has never been more essential to take action against hate-fueled gun violence. If we do not address gun violence fueled by racism in our country, we are putting more lives at risk.
We cannot wait for another hateful, armed attack to befall our nation – it is time to take action against hatred and bigotry. Please, will you sign our petition to disarm hate right now?
Orlando, El Paso, Charleston, and now Atlanta. Yet another city’s name is synonymous with lethal bigotry, John, and we cannot allow this deadly trend to continue. Far too many Americans have become intimately aware of the trauma that comes from the dangerous confluence of racism and gun violence and we can’t allow it to happen to another city. To honor the memory of the eight lives that were senselessly taken and to protect all Americans, we need you to take action.
Please, John, in solidarity with Atlanta and the countless other cities that are threatened by hate-fueled gun violence: Sign your name now to disarm hate.
All people should be able to live safely and free from the threat of armed hate. We stand with the Asian American and Pacific Islander community today and always. Thank you for taking action to save lives.
