John,
I'm currently watching the Senate Judiciary Committee hold their first hearing on the Equality Act. It's infuriating, but not surprising, that U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley opened the hearing by repeating a litany of anti-trans myths, pretending to care about young women playing sports, and stating his intent to call a number of right-wing witnesses bent on claiming that LGBTQ equality will destroy religious freedom and harm women.
If you've payed even a little bit of attention to U.S. politics over the years, you know that Chuck Grassley and his ilk don't actually care about women or ending LGBTQ discrimination. They just care about enshrining their bigoted beliefs into law. And frankly, John, I'm tired of hearing them use their platforms to attack trans lives. If you're as tired of these bigots as I am, will you make a rush donation to power Victory Fund's work to add LGBTQ voices at all levels of government and drown out bigots like these? Look, I won't claim we can defeat every bigot in the U.S. Senate. But here's what we can do: elect more out leaders like U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, who just testified, and a huge wave of state and local leaders who will defend equality from bigots like Chuck Grassley. As Sen. Baldwin herself put it: "Through the action of state legislatures and state and federal courts, marriage equality has become a reality in every corner of this country. But our work is not yet done."
Sen. Baldwin is right - we have a lot of work to do. Victory Fund must continue our work to elect out candidates that are fighting in the state legislatures, at the local levels, and in the U.S. Congress to defeat bigoted bills. I know that every out candidate we elect will hold bigots like Chuck Grassley accountable and fight to pass legislation that benefits all LGBTQ people. With your help, Victory Fund WILL elect more Tammys and defeat Chuck Grassleys - make a donation today. [[link removed]]
