Newly released undercover footage shows the everyday conditions at a farm supplying chickens to Costco. Costco likes to claim that animal welfare is part of its “culture and responsibility” and that it serves “as stewards of the animals,” but the video tells a different story.
It shows how thousands of birds live: crammed together, day after agonizing day—many suffering from raw lesions, open sores, crippled limbs and other injuries related to their hyper-fast growth rates. This is heartless cruelty on a massive scale, plain and simple.

Whatever you eat, we can all agree that this is not okay—and Costco needs to hear this from its customers and the American public.

Costco’s revenue skyrocketed during the pandemic. There’s no reason this extremely profitable company can’t require chickens to be treated more humanely. Ask Costco to start with a commitment to improve the lives of chickens—more than 200 other food companies have already done it! Please do not delay: Sign our letter to Costco leadership today, demanding action.
