We did it.

The House of Representatives just passed the American Rescue Plan—and we're sending it to President Biden for his signature.

Before long, $1400 survival checks will start arriving for millions of American families. We made sure that unemployment benefits will continue to include an additional $300/week of support during this pandemic.

Soon funds will start arriving in communities across the country to help schools reopen safely, support child care providers, protect small businesses, and step up our vaccination efforts.

And this remarkable accomplishment—the American Rescue Plan will lift millions of children out of poverty.

Here's how: we expanded the child tax credit to $3600 per child under age 6 and $3000 per child between 6 and 17. And most important, these tax credits will now be refundable and paid in monthly installments to families with the greatest need.

In short, America now has a guaranteed basic income to support children. It is modest, but it will make a critical difference—cutting in half the number of children who live in poverty.

This is an extraordinary victory.

And it was made possible by your support for Democrats in the last election. Because of you and our win last November, we're able to put substantial relief directly in the hands of families and communities that desperately need support right now.

We have lost more than 525,000 parents, children, neighbors, and friends to this terrible pandemic. Millions more have been sick, and millions more have lost their livelihoods. It has been a long year of terrible suffering.
