Just checking in with a quick update to Emily’s email below — we’re now just $17,238 away from closing our fiscal 2019 funding gap.

Your donation before midnight tonight lets the scientists, lawyers and policy experts here at EDF use their full 2020 budget for the fights at hand and the fights to come — instead of making up the cost of the fights behind us.

Please chip in with your gift of $35 before midnight to strengthen our position over the next year.

Thank you for all you do,

Subject: Don’t just be inspired. Be an inspiration.
Youths around the world are leading another global climate strike today just one week after the largest climate strike in history.
They’re not letting the news cycle move on. They’re not letting us forget that the clock is ticking, and every day — every minute — of inaction has terrible consequences.

Making your first online gift to EDF before midnight on Monday will activate your 2020 membership and give our staff of experts the resources they need now to secure the bold climate action we so urgently need.

Back in April, we asked for your environmental origin stories. We wanted to hear about the pivotal moments in your lives that made you the committed activists and donors you are today.

For many of you, at the heart of that pivotal moment was a pivotal person. Like Albert, a young man from Corpus Christi, Texas, who shared this story:
“I am 22 years old and live a zero waste, minimalist, vegetarian lifestyle and only share environmental news on my social media … I would constantly have panic attacks whenever I would think about our planet and what humans are doing to destroy it, but I never saw myself being part of the change until I saw Greta Thunberg on the news. I finally felt like I wasn't alone in this and so I started being proactive. In just a few months I have helped a bar in my city become straw-less and I'm currently working on getting my apartment complex to recycle.”
John, who inspired you to fight for a safer climate, the way Greta inspired Albert?

Is it a parent or mentor who instilled a reverence for nature in you? A friend or stranger who gave you hope?

That’s the power of a real grassroots movement. Each person who stands up and leads by example inspires even more to stand up and do the same.
This weekend I’m asking you to stand up and make your first gift before midnight Monday.

Thank you for being my inspiration,

P.S. Monday is the last day of our 2019 fiscal year at EDF. And I’ll be honest: the record number of attacks we’ve had to defend against over the past year has stretched our resources thin.

But thanks to more than 800 donors who have given over $60,000 in early 2020 membership contributions this month, we’re just $38,488 away from closing that funding gap. Make a donation before midnight on Monday so we can close the books on 2019 in a financially strong position to keep up the fight in 2020.
