At Jones College in rural Mississippi, conservative student Michael Brown hosted a free speech event -- until campus administrators and police showed up to shut it down.

The leftist administrators told him he had not filled out the proper forms, observed the three-day waiting period, and then received permission to exercise his free speech on campus.

The campus police chief even told Michael he should have been “smarter” than to exercise his free speech rights without permission.

How outrageous!

Thanks to your support of the Leadership Institute, Michael received legal assistance from a Normandy Coalition ally. That organization helped Michael sue Jones College to challenge this restrictive free-speech policy.

Michael’s case took a year -- but in the end, Jones College backed down. The school agreed to implement a policy allowing students to exercise their free speech rights anywhere on campus without permission. They also paid $40,000 in attorney fees to the Normandy Coalition group that helped Michael.
