John,
Ten years ago, the national consensus was that fracked gas was a “bridge fuel” to a renewable energy future.
But Food & Water Watch looked at the science and listened to our grassroots partners. We saw that fracking directly threatened people's air, water, health and climate. It endangered lives and communities. That’s why we became the first national organization to launch a campaign calling for a complete ban on fracking and all the dirty infrastructure that supports it.
Since then, our movement has grown. With our grassroots allies and you beside us, we've built a powerful force for change. The vast majority of Americans now oppose fracking. Elected leaders at all levels see the dangers fracking poses and the destruction it causes, and hundreds of organizations have joined the call to ban fracking. The movement to ban fracking is now a national one.
Together, over the last ten years, we’ve banned fracking in New York, Maryland, Washington and the Delaware River Basin. We’ve stopped new drilling, pipelines, power plants and export facilities in California, New York, Pennsylvania and in dozens of communities across the U.S. And, last year, we’ve worked with members of Congress to get the first-ever legislation introduced that would ban fracking everywhere once and for all!
We couldn't have accomplished any of this without YOU!
There is a lot to be proud of, but we still have more work to do in order to avert runaway climate chaos. We must end the extraction and burning of fossil fuels, ban fracking completely, and transition to 100 percent clean, renewable energy.
Food & Water Watch continues to push full steam ahead to make that happen; we're producing more hard-hitting research, battling in the courts and building stronger coalitions. We're working to:
* Hold President Biden to his campaign pledge to ban fracking on federal lands;
* Pass legislation in Congress that would ban fracking everywhere and transition to renewable energy;
* Continue our work at the state and local levels to ban fracking, stop new drilling, and block dirty pipelines, power plants and other fossil fuel infrastructure.
We’ll be advancing this bold agenda and doing what we do best: speaking truth to power, mobilizing people, and leading the fight for a just and sustainable future.
We know the challenges are daunting, but at Food & Water Watch we don't shy away from big challenges! We will always fight to accomplish what’s needed, no matter who tells us it can't be done. And with your support, we WILL accomplish all of this together.
Thank you for standing with us and fighting like you live here!
