Six years ago today, John, Governor Kate Brown signed Automatic Voter Registration into law in Oregon!
Oregon is a leader when it comes to expanding voting rights and improving ballot access – not only were we the first state with automatic voter registration, Oregon was also the first state to run our elections entirely with vote-by-mail!
Now, even as Republicans across the country push what's been described as "a tidal wave of voter suppression legislation," we're fighting to protect voting rights and increase voter participation in Oregon.

The Oregon Legislature is considering three important bills aimed at increasing voter participation in Oregon:
HJR 11 would ask Oregonians to vote on a ballot measure to allow same-day voter registration in Oregon
HB 2679 would bring young Oregonians into our democracy by allowing 17-year-old Oregonians to participate in primaries if they will turn 18 before the general election
HB 2687 would allow ballots postmarked by Election Day to be counted as long as they are received at elections offices within seven days of the election.
If Oregonians have proven anything over the past several decades, it is that as a state we are really good at conducting secure elections, and at innovating along the way. We were the first state to hold our elections entirely by mail. We were the first state to automatically register eligible voters. And we have led the way at making it as easy as possible for registered voters to update their voting information online.
Because of this legacy of innovation, it's only logical that we aren’t willing to rest on our laurels, but instead push to further expand access to the ballot, simplify the registration process, and improve the safety and security of our elections.
As we celebrate the 6th Anniversary of Automatic Voter Registration in Oregon, add your name to support these bills to expand voter access here in Oregon. [[link removed]]
