Women's March

John, I got some troubling news this morning.

Last month, we fell behind our February fundraising goal by more than 10%. It’s significantly less than what we thought we’d raise, but we remained hopeful that our fundraising would pick up again and we could catch up to where we need to be.

But today, I checked our fundraising numbers again and we’re still falling behind by more than 10%. Because we’re a grassroots funded organization, we can’t afford to fall short on our fundraising goals more than two months in a row. It’s a big deal and can impact future plans for our organizing programs (that we offer for free) and women-led advocacy work in Congress.

To be honest with you, we were nervous this would happen after Trump lost. We succeeded in flipping the White House and the Senate because of this women-led grassroots movement, but our work is far from over. We need to continue organizing to defeat Trumpism, bring forth a feminist future where all women can thrive, and fight for a progressive agenda that will lift our communities up.

Many of you stepped up last week in honor of Women's History Month to chip in $5, $15, $50 – but we still have lots of catching up to do to get back to a healthy place with our fundraising. Can you rush a $3 donation to help us get back on track and make sure we hit our $125,000 fundraising goal for Women’s History Month?

DONATE $3 →

Our entire operating budget relies solely on grassroots donations from emails like this one. We don’t have major funders waiting in the wings to fill a $10K gap. Instead we depend on all of us to pitch in what we can, when we can.

Like most of you, we’re also operating month-to-month. We have a small, but scrappy, team with just ten full-time and two part-time staff. We’re proud that we’ve been able to “punch above our weight” and direct the majority of our budget to mass mobilizations. We’re able to do that because of you, John.

That’s why, especially when the COVID-19 crisis began, we reminded ourselves how grateful we are for supporters like you. You’re the reason why we’re able to still operate and take on big fights.

While we tend to see a spike in donations during Women’s History Month, we know that this year times are different and not everyone is in a place to donate. But if you can, please pitch in $3 today to help us close the gap.

Until we can all march together again,

Rachel
