This is the next major battle for the environmental movement? ? ? ? ? Friend,

I hope you read this all the way through ? fresh off signing the massive COVID-19 relief package, the Biden administration is preparing to advance a new infrastructure plan for the country.

This could be the most important environmental bill of Biden's presidency. We have a shot ? a real shot ? at creating millions of green jobs modernizing our energy, transportation, and water infrastructure.

But here's the problem ? this needs to make it through a Senate that's split 50/50. In many swing states, pressure campaigns are already underway from the oil and gas industry to restart drilling operations and speed along pipeline projects.

We can't let them win. But that means we need to be louder. Smarter. Faster. That means we need to be campaigning now in a major way ? while there's still time to shape the package.

So we're asking for your help. At LCV, we can stretch a dollar pretty far ? but the truth is, that after months of must-win policy fights with the Trump administration on the way out the door ? and aggressive campaigning right out of the gate with Biden ? resources are tight right now.

A group of donors has put up a triple match fund this month ? up to $100,000. Please ? make the most of this moment. We can win this.

The ONLY way we get a green infrastructure plan is with a major grassroots push. Your support makes that possible. Please, donate today ? even $5 will make a difference ? [link removed]

We do this right, and we could be looking at a plan that builds 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations in underserved neighborhoods and along highways and supercharges manufacturing of electric vehicles. A plan that manufactures and installs tens of thousands of wind turbines and millions of solar panels.

We're also pushing to ensure these investments go to communities that have been hurt most by pollution and climate change. That means demanding at least 40% of the benefits flow to low-income communities, Tribal communities, and communities of color.

This green and just recovery bill is being touted as a "once in a generation" opportunity. It really could be. Or, we could let the oil and gas CEOs steer the ship, and jam in funding for new pipelines and fossil fuel and gas uses. Bottom line, the stakes here are massive.

Friend ? I really hope you'll take this opportunity to triple your impact [link removed] ? because this isn't the only urgent environmental fight we're up against. Here are just a few more reasons why pitching in is so damn important right now. Because H.R.1 ? a sweeping voting rights bill tackling automatic voter registration, early voting, vote-by-mail, gerrymandering reform, and more ? has just passed the House in a vote of 220 to 210. The bill now moves to the 50-50 split Senate as soon as next week, where any vote we win will rely on razor-thin margins. This is our shot at the most significant voting reform bill since the Voting Rights Act. The ONLY way this passes is with a major grassroots push. Your support makes that happen. Donate today ? [link removed] Because Biden has paused all new drilling leases on public land. Fossil fuel extraction on public lands generates A QUARTER of America's greenhouse gas emissions. This is HUGE ? but the problem is that the pause is temporary. The oil and gas industry is already ramping up pressure campaigns and lobbying efforts hitting lawmakers in vulnerable states. If they go unanswered ? we'll be going back to business as usual. Don't let Big Oil restart leasing efforts. We CAN stop them ? but we all need to get on board ? [link removed] Because there's also a major public lands package barreling towards a vote in the Senate. The House has passed the Protecting America's Wilderness and Public Lands Act, which could permanently protect millions of acres of American public land. That includes protecting areas around the Grand Canyon containing the water source for the Havasupai Tribe ? currently at risk of being mined for uranium. We can't give up the Grand Canyon to mining interests. This is our chance to protect it ? [link removed] Because a group of donors is triple-matching every contribution this month. Bottom line, your contribution goes further to win environmental campaigns that matter if you give now. Triple your impact ? [link removed] We need to go all out right now ? to win each and every one of these fights. But it's only going to happen if the environmental movement shows up during the moments that matter.

Thank you, friend ? for continuing to show up.

Onward,

Adam, Brooke, Casey, ChiQuita, Jim, Mike, Brent, and Vinnie
