Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 17, 2021, the US Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on the so-called Equality Act. While neither of our two Wisconsin US senators, Tammy Baldwin (D) and Ron Johnson (R), are on that committee, it is still vitally important that we right now urge both senators to vote no on this bill when it comes to the full Senate, which we believe will be within the next week or so.

Please take just a moment to send an email to Senators Johnson and Baldwin letting them know your opinion on the bill and that you, as their constituent, want them to vote no.

The WFA ACTION CENTER has details about the bill, but suffice it to say it is dangerous and has special implications for harming women and children. The bill also has no religious exemptions/exceptions and even goes so far as to say that the federal Religious Freedom Protection Act, which is current law, would not be a permissible defense if a claim is made against the Equality Act.

Your action today will be helpful in ensuring that especially Senator Johnson votes no on this bill. To stop the bill in the senate, we need to make sure very few Republican senators decide to support this draconian measure. We can do our part by making sure Senator Johnson knows many (if not most) of his constituents want him to vote no on the Equality Act.
