President Biden sought to celebrate Women's History month by making a little history of his own.



Earlier last week, Biden signed an Executive Order that redefined Title IX's use of the word "sex" to now also mean "sexual orientation and gender identity." Title IX's original prohibition against sex-based discrimination in education is exactly the type of historical event we should be celebrating this month for giving women equal access to athletic and scholarship opportunities.



In contrast, the Executive Order's enforcement will likely require schools to allow biologically-born males to dominate girl's athletic competitions <[link removed]>. And it's not alone: last week the House passed the anti-religious liberty "Equality Act," <[link removed]> and a vote in the Senate may happen this week. This bill would do to the Civil Rights Act what the Executive Order does to Title IX, but also extends its influence to anything funded by federal money—that includes schools, employment, and even sports. 



In anticipation of this agenda, since 2020 states such as Idaho, Mississippi, and South Dakota have passed commonsense Save Women's Sports legislation.



And they're not alone. Over half of the states in our union are engaged in similar efforts to save girls sports. 



But what about North Carolina? 



Starting in 2019, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (“NCHSAA”) allows biological boys to compete against girls on girls’ sports teams. Yes, that’s right, North Carolina girls who compete in sports now have to worry about biological males taking away their opportunities.



Girls deserve to compete on a level playing field. When we ignore biological reality, girls get hurt. In athletics, girls are losing medals, podium spots, public recognition, and opportunities to compete. Males will always have physical advantages over females—that’s the reason we have girls’ sports. We need legislation to Save Women’s Sports.



Unfortunately, even though the General Assembly is in session—and recent polling has shown 75.46% of North Carolinians agree that allowing biological males to compete in women's sports is unfair—our state is not among the list of those who have passed Save Women's Sports legislation.



We're still waiting on our legislators to act. And that's why we need your help to Save Women's Sports in North Carolina. <[link removed]>



Girls deserve equal opportunities to experience the thrill of victory. But allowing biologically-born males to compete in girls' sports disadvantages girls and destroys fair competition and the athletic opportunities we're supposed to be celebrating this month.
