Dr. Jill Biden recently made a visit to Whidbey Island's Naval Air Station to hear about the challenges military families are facing from the pandemic.
These kinds of visits are personal for Dr. Biden, who has proudly called herself “a National Guard mom.” As First Lady, she knows that any place she frequents gains immediate attention, and it's telling that she's chosen to highlight the challenges that military families are facing, especially at a time when the pandemic has fueled anxieties over deployments and veterans have been left with even fewer resources.
Dr. Biden doesn't just talk about supporting families -- she goes out and does it, and that sets a great example for all of us.
But, due to sexist GOP double standards, we know that Dr. Biden will always face undue criticism. Right-wing pundits on Fox News have been slamming her since before President Biden was elected, with Tucker Carlson most recently (and bizarrely) declaring that Joe and Jill's marriage is “part of a slick PR campaign devised by cynical consultants.” He even had the audacity to add, “Their love is as real as climate change!”
We don't even know where to begin with Carlson's absolutely ridiculous rant. But his tirades are broadcast to millions of viewers who are looking for any reason to attack Jill Biden. That's why we're rushing to rally her support. Please, add your voice to ours now and show that the majority of Americans in this country are behind her:
