It's a well-known fact that foreign entities are legally prohibited from directly influencing U.S. elections. But what about when a foreign investor has partial ownership of a U.S. corporation?

Across the country, companies with partial foreign ownership, such as Amazon [ [link removed] ], Uber [ [link removed] ], and Airbnb [ [link removed] ], have used their money to influence the outcome of elections and political agendas in their favor. "Citizens United" created a loophole for foreign interests to acquire stakes in U.S. corporations and then use that leverage to influence or control the corporation's political activity, including campaign contributions, contributions to super PACs, and independent expenditures. *We say no more.*

Free Speech For People has been at the forefront [ [link removed] ] of this issue, researching, drafting, and advocating for legislation curbing foreign influence in elections on all levels of government. We helped to successfully pass laws in St. Petersburg [ [link removed] ], Florida in 2017, and in Seattle [ [link removed] ], Washington in 2020. Now there are seven states (Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, and Oregon) considering similar bans.
