Dear John,

Our nation is experiencing a raging "cancel culture", a presidential administration promoting policies antithetical to biblical values and is fresh off the heels of one of the most mistrusted election results in our nation's history. Many people are asking, "What can we do? What is the path forward?" Many believers may be tempted to wave the white flag and throw in the towel.

But now is not the time to give up. In fact, now is the time to roll up our sleeves, pray, and get to work like never before. God never promised us that the path would be easy, but He tells us to be engaged in our communities and our culture no matter what the obstacles are.

In a recent Pray Vote Stand townhall meeting in Leesburg, Virginia, FRC Action President Tony Perkins, Alliance Defending Freedom President and CEO Mike Farris, and Pastor Gary Hamrick discussed, among other things, the irregularities of the 2020 election and what can be done to correct those in the future.

There were three specific steps discussed that can help restore voters' confidence in the integrity of our elections:

  1. By law, state legislatures have the authority to determine the election laws. They must act to ensure constitutional election laws are in place and are being followed.
  2. The Democrat-formulated H.R. 1 legislation currently in Congress must be defeated because of how it undermines election integrity (as well as many other bad provisions). This bill has now passed the US House so we must do everything we can to stop it in the US Senate.
  3. Conservative legal teams must challenge the flood of litigation from the Left that is designed to loosen ballot integrity.

In 43 states, over 250 bills have been introduced that are designed to strengthen state election systems and processes -- showing that there is much momentum for election reform in the states. The majority of changes needed in this area need to be implemented at the state level.

Even with the renewed focus on election integrity, some believers are discouraged. That is understandable, but as Pastor Gary Hamrick pointed out during the townhall, "If we check out, then who will be the righteous voice in the land? We have to stay engaged." As we stay engaged, here are some important steps you can take:

What You Can Do: State Level

We have compiled a resource "10 Steps to Protect Election Integrity." Read through this, and then contact your state legislators about what the needs are in your state. You can find your state legislators and contact information for them through our Contact Officials Center here.

What You Can Do: Federal Level

H.R. 1 is the terribly misnamed For the People Act. Quite the contrary, this bill actually aims to overhaul the election systems of all 50 states and control how your state runs its elections. It would cripple states' ability to run the elections and increases the likelihood of voter fraud. It would hamper states' ability to determine voters' qualifications, ensure the accuracy of voter registration rolls, and determine the district boundary lines for electing their representatives. It would also allow individuals to vote without an ID and would permit online voter registration that is not tied to an existing state record such as a driver's license. Additionally, it would significantly undermine our First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and assembly. Alarmingly, the US House just passed this bill. It is critical that we stop it in the US Senate. Contact your US Senators today and urge them to vote "No" on H.R. 1. For more information on this bill, visit www.frc.org/hr1.

Our Election Integrity webpage has these and other resources to help equip you. By staying engaged, we can accomplish what we need to in order to ensure our election system is operating with integrity.

Sincerely,

The FRC Action Team
