WEGO Couriers paves the wayÂ
WEGO Couriers is helping to pave the way for companies of the future with their two new BMW i3s. With help from our Workplace Travel Service, they were able to secure the installation of four charge points, as well as an e-cargo bike.
They now have six Electric Vehicles (EVs) on their fleet, with the BMW i3s being their long range vehicle of choice. With 160 miles per charge, their daily routes can be completed with help from the expansive charge point network throughout the UK. This allows the fully electric secure transportation of blood samples and transfusion bags, with no thoughts of range anxiety.
WEGO are finding the BMW i3s highly reliable, with a high standard of build quality and driver comfort. The longer range EVs are allowing them to win more contract work and expand their sustainable delivery service to other cities.
East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust
EMAS have installed 12 7kW charge points to supplement their change to EV. With a Workplace Travel Service grant of ÂŁ25,000, the charge point installation has been rapidly brought to EMAS.
With range anxiety eliminated, EMAS hopes that the availability of these charge points will encourage more colleagues to buy or lease EVs in the near future. 14 of their staff members tried the first loaned EVs, giving lots positive feedback, with two members who will be exploring purchase of EVs within the next year.
EMAS intends to continue to introduce EVs into their fleet, with two BMW i3s having recently joined the fleet as fast response vehicles.

We live in a changing world, and testing new and emerging technology is vital to forecast how people will travel around the city for years to come.Â
Our submission to the Department for Transport’s Future Mobility Zones fund will enable us to trial new and exciting developments in transport including; new vehicles, smart ticketing, data driven insights and the sharing economy to help future-proof travel in the city.
What does this mean for Nottingham’s Go Ultra Low team? We’ll be looking to put in more charge points to continue to encourage and support the uptake of electric vehicles, as well as maintaining our motivation for the transfer to active travel, such as use of e-bikes.
Mobility as a Service (MaaS) is being looked into to bring the future of transport together. The concept being the ability to take any form of transport, be it bus, bike, tram, car, taxi; anything, using only one method to plan and pay, simplifying and optimising public transport of the future.
