With Joe Biden as president and Democrats controlling the House and Senate for the first time since 2010, we will be judged on what we deliver for the American people in their time of need. The people want action, not excuses. -- Senator Bernie Sanders

John -- As usual, Bernie is right. 

For the sake of progress, this time around we need to prove Bernie wrong. Brand New Congress and our reps are answering the call. 

In 1992 Bill Clinton and Congressional Democrats failed to meet the promises of ‘building America’s bridge to the 21st Century.’ They were met with resounding defeat in 1994. 

In 2008 Barack Obama held a trifecta, pledging sweeping reforms with messaging like ‘HOPE’ and ‘CHANGE.’ Neither standard was met and in the 2010 midterms, Republicans slaughtered them.

Today Joe Biden enjoys complete Democratic control and has committed to “Build back better.” The time for fearless leadership and big ideas is now! The American Rescue Plan should just be the beginning, a down payment on progress for the people of this country.

Brand New Congress reps in Washington are leading the charge on policies designed to meet the unprecedented challenges of our time. AOC, Cori Bush, Rashida Tlaib and Jamaal Bowman are demanding:
 

• Cancellation of all student loan debt

• Healthcare and housing as a human right 

• Federal jobs guarantee and a $15 minimum wage for ALL
   

These are policies that would make a REAL difference in people’s lives. But the level of demand and the amount of transparency required to pass progressive legislation can not be left to a small few. To meet the challenges that everyday Americans face, we must be represented by more everyday Americans.
