Hi John,
Margaret Thatcher once said, “Our aim is to make tax collecting a declining industry” – a popular sentiment that conservative state leaders continue to champion. Freeing people from the burdens of overreaching taxation, conservatives in both West Virginia and Arkansas have proposed legislation to alleviate some tax duties for their citizens. Both states are pushing to eliminate the state income tax, following states like Florida, Texas, and Alaska, amongst others.
On the flipside, liberal states like Hawaii and Illinois are doing the opposite. Both states are looking to expand government influence with large tax increases across the board, further forcing their residents to fund their socialist agenda.
Hawaii’s Leftist state Senate passed legislation that would subject some of its citizens to the highest income tax in the nation. The legislation also increases capital gains tax, corporate tax, and taxes on real estate sales.
In Illinois, liberal Governor Pritzker has proposed almost $1 billion in new taxes, as well as reducing some of the state's tax breaks. The irrational push for these new taxes is to pay for the governor’s $42 billion in budget proposals. This is ironic considering Illinois has not had a balanced budget since 2002.
Let's make something clear-- there is no such thing as government money. It is the taxpayers’ money. Liberal states tax their citizens into the grave and provide no incentive for economic growth. They seldomly attract new residents, and a number of their residents exit the state to find sanctuary in conservative-run states with low tax burdens like Florida.
The Left consistently fails to understand that people would much rather live life with little government interference. They want to spend their own money how they see fit. Inevitably, these liberal hotbeds will come to learn that they will eventually run out of other people’s money.
Sincerely,
Casey
