Ramadan is around the corner-- break your fast with justice

Dear Supporter,

Dates are considered the “black gold” of Palestine. They are an important natural product of Palestine’s pure and blessed land. But Palestinian date producers in Jericho suffer from tremendous obstacles put in their path due to ever-expanding Israeli colonization and the scarcity of valuable natural resources such as water.

On top of having their land and water stolen, forcing them to buy their water from Israeli companies, Palestinian farmers have to compete with date producers in Israeli settlements. Palestinian laborers who are forced by economic necessity to work in these illegal settlements under brutal conditions are exploited as Israeli labor laws are scarcely enforced when it pertains to Palestinian workers.

We need to act now! Join us by signing this pledge to boycott Israeli dates!

Over the years, AMP has led a national boycott of Israeli dates as a response to Palestinian civil society’s call for boycott, divestment and sanctions of Israel. Israeli dates imports have dropped dramatically over the years. According to recent data, Israeli date imports have dropped to 2.5 million pounds for the market year 2019/2020 in comparison to 6.9 million pounds the year before.

Here’s what you can do now:

  • Sign our petition to join in solidarity with this boycott of Israeli dates to support justice for the Palestinian people.
  • Find alternative date companies that you can buy from!

Buy Palestinian dates through Penny Appeal!

This year, we are partnering with our friends at Penny Appeal to support Palestinian farmers by promoting Palestinian-grown and cultivated dates in the U.S. They are $25 per tin (1.98 lb/31.8 oz) or $20 per tin if you purchase 10 or more boxes.

Sincerely,

Taher Herzallah
Director of Outreach & Grassroots Organizing
