Gamaliel announces Rev. David Bigsby Religious Leaders' Development Fund
In February, Gamaliel announced the Rev. David Bigsby Religious Leaders' Development Fund in honor of Rev. Bigsby as he approaches retirement this year. The Fund will support a new generation of religious leaders as they learn the art of community organizing.
We met out goal of "seeding" the Fund with $5,000 during We Are Gamaliel, but additional contributions are welcome — simply mark your Gamaliel investment [gamaliel.org/donate] in honor of Rev. Bigsby.

$10 Million Academy trains affiliates to organize money, not just people
Gamaliel launched the $10 Million Academy on Monday, February 22, with 38 organizers and leaders from nine states participating.
Attendees learned more about the difference between diffuse and diverse funding sources through stories about fundraising
experiences shared by Lora McDonald, Executive Director, MORE 2, and David Liners, Executive Director, WISDOM.
Rev. Cynthia Jarrold, Gamaliel National Policy Director, presented best practices for creating a funder prospect list; and Jay Schmitt,
Gamaliel Senior Advisor (and retired Chief Operating Officer), introduced them to the cash flow chart. Participants will come back to
Session 2 having created both of the tools for their local and/or state affiliate.
The Gamaliel $10 Million Academy is a four-session training course designed to: 1) train organizers and key leaders in the tools and
strategies needed to get their “financial houses” in order; 2) create a narrative and a culture of accountability and investment at the
local, state, and national levels of the network; and 3) begin raising “real” dollars in order to achieve our mission.
For more information, contact Cynthia Jarrold,

National Leadership Training
[[link removed]]Our March 21 – 26 National Leadership Training (NLT) is at capacity with 81 leaders and potential organizers registered. To pull it off, we brought together 25 Trainers, eight Evaluators and six Techs, all prepared to deliver the best on-line training for our network.
NLT is Gamaliel’s flagship training event, designed to present the concepts and tools an effective leader needs. It affords participants the opportunity to reflect on their present and future roles in the public arena through agitational, Socratic training methods.
Nearly 93% of our November NLT participants who completed the evaluations rated our on-line training “Effective” to “Highly Effective,” and 90% found the experience challenging. These are just a few of the comments we received from November participants:
“I had many moments throughout the week where I would finish the training and just cry because I felt like I was actually understanding myself more and my purpose for how I can build power and make a real difference.”
“I went into this thinking it would just be a lecture-based training and I would just take notes and not have to participate. What I didn't realize was that it would be life changing for me and a chance to truly invest in myself and understand what it takes for me to be powerful and to build power in the community.”
“This was hard, but a blessing.”
In March, participants will join in via Zoom from coast to coast, with representatives tuning in from New Hampshire, Maryland, California, Tennessee, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, and Pennsylvania. Our affiliates in Tennessee are bringing the most participants — 31.
Our next on-line National Leadership Training in English is July 25 – 30, 2021 and the Online Spanish Training is August 8 -13, 2021. Registration for both these trainings will open May 1st on the Gamaliel website. [gamaliel.org/events-and-training]
