Last week, the House passed two critically important gun safety bills that I proudly supported.
These bills will strengthen the background checks system by making them universal and giving law enforcement more time to complete checks. Both of these measures are common-sense and have bipartisan support. In fact, over 90% of Americans support this bill.
The House has passed universal background checks before, only to have the Senate do nothing. Now, with a new Senate, we have a chance to finally make this bill law --
we just need to make our voices heard.

Far too many times we've seen the danger of having weak gun safety laws. Too many times, the interests of the NRA have been prioritized over American lives.
