Friend: I’ve got big news, and if you’re a supporter of public schools and church-state separation, you’ll want to hear it.
In response to a surge of private school voucher bills in states across the country, AU is launching a brand-new digital campaign to rally support for public schools.
The campaign starts TODAY, with the premiere of a new AU digital ad, “Free To Be Me,” that highlights the taxpayer-funded discrimination practiced by many private religious schools.

Private school voucher programs allow religious schools to use taxpayer dollars to discriminate against kids based on their sexual orientation, disability, religion, or academic ability.
At public schools, students can be their authentic selves without fear of taxpayer-funded discrimination forcing them to hide their identities or pray to a God they don’t believe in.
Former President Trump and his Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos, spent four years pushing private school vouchers. Now, especially with last summer’s Supreme Court decision forcing states to fund religious schools if they have voucher programs, state legislatures all over the country are advancing legislation to finish their work. We can’t let that happen.
The core of our message is simple: It’s time to say NO to private school vouchers that send taxpayer money to private religious schools that discriminate.

I’m so excited to share this with you, friend, and I hope you take some time to pitch in to strengthen America’s public schools and our country’s core principle of religious freedom.
With hope and determination,
