Do you know what your child is being taught in school about human sexuality?
Many parents are unaware that there is a difference between human sexuality instruction in schools (including “topics of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, eroticism, sexual pleasure, or sexual intimacy”) and simply sex education (which teaches only human anatomy and physiology).
Which instruction is your child receiving—or are they currently enrolled in both?
Should you be concerned? The answer for many Idaho parents is "YES."
House Bill 249, sponsored by Representative Barbara Ehardt (R-Idaho Falls), would require that for any instruction regarding human sexuality, parents must opt their children in. Parents will be given descriptions of the specific educational material prior to opting their child in or choosing to excuse their child, from the human sexuality instruction.
TODAY, Monday, March 15, 2021, this legislation is scheduled to be heard in Senate Education Committee around 3 p.m. (MT).
The ability of Idaho parents to remain informed about sexuality education in schools, and their right to make choices regarding their children's education, may depend on this bill being passed out of committee.
We urge you to contact your state senators and ask them to support House Bill 249.

“It does not take a majority to prevail… but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.”
