SDSA's Tenant Rights Town Hall is THIS Wednesday, March 17th!
The statewide eviction moratorium is set to end on March 31st, putting over 225,000 Washington households at risk of eviction. We need state legislators to take urgent action and fight for vital tenant protections!
Join us on Zoom for a discussion on capitalism, the housing crisis, and what a socialist program for housing justice could look like. Speakers include our very own comrades Nikkita Oliver and Jesse Hagopian as well as Washington State legislators and a host of others. For the complete list of demands, information on registration, and so much more please click here.
No Charity for Cops! The Seattle Foundation has contributed $870,000 to the Seattle Police Foundation in the past 20 years through community grants and donor-advised funds. Divest SPD invites you to join in our call to the Seattle Foundation to immediately divest from police, make amends for the harm done, and invest more in the community. Read and sign on to the letter to help us make sure these demands are met!
Rally to Support Alabama Amazon Union Drive! This Saturday March 20th at 1pm, DSA will lead a rally at the Amazon Spheres to show solidarity with the Alabama Amazon workers seeking to form the first-ever union at an Amazon warehouse! Seattle DSA just had our Local Convention this past Saturday, and the afternoon saw us looking back at the Unprecedented Times we had in 2020 and looking forward to doing even more in 2021.
To our outgoing Local Council: thank you for all the time, energy, and labor you've given us over this tumultuous, exhausting year. You leave us with a chapter that's stronger in numbers, more energized in purpose and better-equipped to lead our community than ever before.
And to you, Reader, whether you're a Socialist in full bloom or just a budding rose, we're so glad to have you with us. We're always looking for new members, of course, but whether you decide to join us today or tomorrow, it's nice to have you here, now.
In Solidarity,
Seattle DSA
