Reproductive and gender-affirming care is under attack around the country. Recently, we have seen an alarming rise in states attempting to restrict reproductive care, like abortion, and ban the provision of healthcare to young transgender people. Unfortunately, California is no exception.

University of California Health, the fourth largest health system in the state, holds contracts with facilities that impose harmful restrictions on reproductive and LGBTQ-inclusive care. Despite outcry from its own students and medical providers, UC Health is fighting to retain these contracts.

Tell the California Senate Education Committee that it's time to protect patient access to comprehensive and inclusive care in UC medical centers.

State Senate Bill 379 would ensure UC Health contracts put patient health first and medical providers are not limited in the care they can provide. SB 379 ensures that patients are provided with the same high level of care, whether a patient is seeing UC providers or medical students at UC-run medical centers or at an affiliated hospital. Sadly, UC Health has refused to make these changes on its own.

For too long, UC Health's restrictive contracts have been drafted behind closed doors, setting aside public concern over the impact on comprehensive critical care. SB 379 would create needed oversight of UC Health contracts and protect patient care.

Join healthcare providers and advocates in calling on the state senate to pass SB 379 to ensure inclusive care for all UC health patients.
