John: We're one step closer to a truly representative democracy.

According to CBS News, lawmakers in Congress have introduced a new bill to grant Puerto Rico statehood -- and advocates fighting for Washington, D.C. statehood are more hopeful than ever with Senate Democrats reintroducing legislation to finally make our capital a state.

But none other than the Senate Grim Reaper Mitch McConnell has publicly objected to statehood, warning that “after Democrats change the filibuster, they're going to admit the District as a state. They're going to admit Puerto Rico as a state. That's four new Democratic senators in perpetuity.”

Republicans are on a campaign to silence the voices of millions of Americans by introducing dozens of bills to restrict voting rights in battleground states like Georgia -- and now, McConnell is doing everything he can to stop millions of tax-paying American citizens in D.C. and Puerto Rico from getting the representation they deserve in Congress.

And his tactics are working, John. POLITICO now reports that “a divide has formed among Democrats” on the issue of statehood.

We're tired of Republicans staying in power by silencing the will of the American people. We need to show Democrats in Congress that we're united on this issue while we have a majority. That's why, as we prepare for the uphill battle to add two stars to our flag, we need to know if Democrats and the people of D.C. and Puerto Rico have the American people behind them. John, let us know where you stand now:

Do Americans in D.C and Puerto Rico deserve proper representation in Congress?

YES   NO

Thank you for everything you do every day to defend our democracy and create a better government for all Americans. Our work would be impossible without your input.
