Dear John,
Today marks 43 years since Congress first passed the Hyde
Amendment, and for more than four decades, people enrolled in Medicaid
have been denied access to abortion coverage - hurting low-income
folks, particularly women of color.
But the tide is changing, thanks to BOLD work by women of color who
are working to undo these injustices. The public is with us on ending
the Hyde Amendment, and we’ve got the numbers to prove it.
We released an exciting new poll today that shows 62 % of voters
believe Medicaid should provide insurance coverage for abortion. In
battleground congressional districts, the numbers are even higher -
nearly 70% support Medicaid coverage of abortion.
The numbers don’t lie-and it’s long past time for our elected
officials to do what’s right and end the Hyde Amendment once and for
all. Today, we’re asking you to be BOLD and let
your representatives know that the time is now to listen to the
majority and stop making abortion dependent on a woman’s income.
Thanks for all you do,
All* Above All
