John, I want to talk to you about something that's probably at the very top of your mind lately:
I want to talk to you about the COVID vaccine.
Everywhere we look, people are talking about vaccines — and in turn, there's a lot of disinformation out there about how safe they are for women, their effectiveness, and how to get vaccinated. In a National Geographic survey, 69% of men surveyed said they were somewhat or very likely to take the vaccine, compared to only 51% of women.
That's why today, Women's March and our Digital Defenders program are launching an ambitious fundraising drive to fund our work to combat disinformation about the COVID vaccine. Digital Defenders, which has been one of our key efforts since 2019, is a training and organizing program focused on online 1:1 communication and deep canvassing. Women's March already has the platform and infrastructure to make an important difference in the online discourse around vaccines and their safety. But right now, we still need to raise the funds to power this important initiative.
This is one of the most ambitious — and most important — topics that Digital Defenders has taken on. With enough grassroots support, here's what Women's March's efforts to combat vaccine disinformation can look like:
Equipping women with the knowledge and information we need to feel comfortable and confident about getting the COVID vaccine is a crucial step to healing and rebuilding our country. This is important work that we can only do with enough funding, so please chip in what you can:
Thank you so much,
Noor
