This is a really hard email to write.

I'm falling desperately short of my mid-month fundraising goal.

I lost my seat by an incredibly slim margin. But I'm not giving up. There is far too much work left that needs to be done and too many people who still need help and are depending on us.

I know this race is a toss-up and, with the right resources, I know we can pull this off.

But the GOP just announced they have $12 million in the bank to destroy my chances of winning and stop me from heading back to Congress to fight for our progressive agenda.

I need grassroots supporters like you to step up now so I can fund my cutting-edge campaign.

Or I will lose this race.
