Republicans in the Georgia State Senate repealed no-excuse absentee voting.
“We know that their targets are Black voters," said Cliff Albright, co-founder of the Atlanta-based Black Voters Matter, in an interview with CNN about the Georgia GOP's portfolio of voter suppression bills. "These (legislation) notes are dripping in the blood of Jim Crow."
From eliminating access to absentee voting to going after Black communities' tradition of “souls to the polls,” it's clear that the Georgia GOP's bills have nothing to do with election integrity and everything to do with suppressing voters of color.
To stop and overcome the GOP's voter suppression tactics, we'll all have to stand together again to defend voting rights. If grassroots supporters like you join with us like you did in November and January, we can stop the GOP's voter suppression effort in its tracks before they further disenfranchise millions of voters of color.
But the GOP's voter suppression campaign is bigger than Georgia. They've unveiled over 250 voter suppression bills in over 40 states, and we're quickly running out of funds to fight back against each of these anti-democratic bills.
