Friend,
The US Postal Service connects our communities and provides good jobs to millions of working people―particularly Black workers, workers without bachelor’s degrees, and military veterans. But, under the last two Republican administrations, the USPS has been under constant attack.
In order to strengthen the Postal Service, save jobs, and ensure a continuation of quality service and delivery, we must expand the USPS’s mission to include Postal Banking.
Read more below about how Postal Banking would help serve the 25% of Americans who are underbanked or unbanked―providing a low-cost alternative to predatory lenders and the Big Banks.
Sign the petition today to tell Congress to save the USPS by introducing and passing the Postal Banking Act.
Together, let’s strengthen the USPS and provide valuable new services to all Americans.
Thank you,
Rashida

Friend,
The U.S. Postal Service provides a critical public good, connecting our communities while providing millions of good-paying jobs across the country.
But, under the last two Republican administrations, we’ve seen repeated attacks on the USPS, which put postal workers at the risk of losing their jobs and threatened the essential and affordable mail services that Americans rely on. Destroying the USPS would be especially devastating for people in rural areas, since any for-profit mailing companies (like FedEx) wouldn't find them profitable enough to cover.
It’s time for the Biden administration and Congress to strengthen this critical public service by expanding the USPS’s mission to include Postal Banking.
Sign the petition to tell Congress to save the USPS by passing the Postal Banking Act.
Postal Banking would bring basic financial services like low-cost savings and checking accounts to post offices, but also take aim at predatory practices like payday loans, high-fee prepaid debit cards, and overdraft fees that have taken advantage of the 25% of Americans who are underbanked or unbanked―which means they can only cash checks through predatory lenders.
Leveling the playing field for all of us, Postal Banking would help address long-standing financial inequities.
It would also create new revenue streams for the Postal Service while providing the American people with additional, low-cost banking options other than the Big Banks. It's a matter of economic justice.
Join me in calling on Congress to save the USPS by passing the Postal Banking Act.
This bill has been introduced in the past by our champion, Senator Bernie Sanders. And this isn’t a new idea for our country or others! Postal Banking existed in the US from 1911 until 1967. And it currently serves people in countries including Brazil, France, Germany, India, the United Kingdom, and more. We know it works. And we need it now.
Thank you for joining me in fighting to strengthen the USPS and our underbanked communities.
Always serving you,
Rashida
