URGENT: H.R. 1 passes the House. But it still needs a Senate vote.

John,

Great news for democracy! Last week, the U.S. House passed a flagship anti-corruption and voting rights reform package — H.R. 1, the For The People Act.

In the aftermath of the 2020 election's slew of misinformation circulating around voter fraud, it's critical that we safeguard against ongoing efforts of voter suppression and ensure that every voice is heard.

As the People's Attorney, I'm one of those officials in my state who is responsible for uplifting the people's voices through clean, safe, and fair elections. That's why I'm a strong supporter of H.R.1, which makes major changes requiring more transparency in our elections through increased measures to ensure access to the ballot box, instituting nonpartisan redistricting to end partisan gerrymandering, creating a national system for automatic voter registration, and more.

Unfortunately, many Republican majority legislatures already have bills in the works that make it harder -- (yes, you heard me right -- not easier!) to vote. We secured mail-in voting here in Oregon twenty years ago and may well have the best, safest and easiest voting system in the world right here in our state! But even in Oregon, we can’t let our guard down. Voter disenfranchisement efforts across the country are the ugly legacy of the last four Trump-filled years.

So, we've got to keep fighting. We owe it to all Oregonians, now and in generations to come, that they will never, ever, be denied the right to vote.

I will continue working hard to protect your right to vote, but I need you in this fight with me. Can you make a donation right now to help strengthen my efforts in this fight against voter suppression?
