Dear Friend --



After many months of focusing on saving lives during the surge, while also successfully launching a citywide vaccination plan, Long Beach is finally at a place where we can officially move from the Purple Tier to the Red Tier in the State's Blueprint for a Safer Economy.



This is great news for our city and only possible because we followed the science and took care of each other. Because we did these things, starting Monday, our community will be able to go back to doing some of the things we have missed the most:



- Restaurants may open indoors with modifications, including a maximum 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer.

- Retail may open indoors with modifications, including a maximum 50% capacity (increased from a maximum 25% capacity).

- Museums, Galleries, Aquariums and Botanical Gardens may open indoors with modifications, limited to a 25% maximum capacity.

- Places of Worship may open indoors with modifications, including a maximum 25% capacity. Outdoor services and cultural ceremonies are still strongly recommended.

- Movie Theaters may open indoors with modifications, including a maximum of 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer.

- Wineries, Breweries and Distilleries where meals are not served may open outdoors only. Guests must remain seated at a table and must be limited to 90 minutes.

- Gyms may open indoors with modifications, including a maximum of 10% capacity.







This updated order will also impact and open up limited operations for family entertainment centers, institutes of higher ed and youth and adult sports.



And as soon as April 1, outdoor live events may begin again. This means we might even see sporting events and live performances resume, of course with safety modifications in place. To see the updated Safer at Home order, click here <[link removed]>.



We’ve been working every day for a year to get folks tested and vaccinated, open businesses back up safely, and support communities impacted by the pandemic.



Our work is far from done, but better days are ahead as we get this economy moving – and continue to stay safe.
