Earlier this week, Fox News host Tucker Carlson denigrated women bravely serving in our military, calling tailored maternity combat uniforms “ a mockery of the U.S. military ” and calling the military “ out of control ” and too “feminine.”
Carlson’s comments are an insult to all of the servicewomen who put their lives on the line to protect our country -- women like Mikie and Senator Tammy Duckworth.

A former Navy helicopter pilot, Mikie signed up to serve in the military when she was just 18 years old. She’s also a mom of four.
Like Mikie, Tammy is both a veteran and a working mom. She’s a Purple Heart recipient who lost her legs while deployed in Iraq. She’s also the first sitting senator to give birth while in office, and she fought for the right to bring her newborn daughter on to the Senate floor so she could do both of her jobs as a Member of Congress and as a mother.
Unlike Mikie, Tammy, and so many other servicewomen, Tucker Carlson did not serve our country in the military.
Mikie and Tammy know our military is stronger because of our brave servicewomen -- that’s why they tirelessly fight in Congress for all of our servicemen, servicewomen, and veterans.
