Have you heard about “the worst bill in Congress” yet? At least that’s what the National Retail Federation has dubbed the Protecting the Right to Organize Act, or PRO Act.

The PRO Act takes one of California’s most disastrous pieces of legislation — AB5 — and makes it national.

It effectively eliminates the gig economy by banning people’s ability to work as independent contractors or freelancers. It may even impact the ability of our farmers to get the help they need to detassel their corn.

Basically, Joe Biden and Congressional Democrats want to eliminate Americans’ ability to find work on their own terms, during a pandemic that has skyrocketed unemployment.

It also bans the right-to-work laws that exist in 27 states and counting, which means employees may be required to join unions and pay dues as a condition of employment. In other words, against their will!

Destroying the gig economy and taking free choice away from workers who want to freelance will directly take economic opportunity out of the hands of hardworking Americans trying to make ends meet.

We need to be supporting our burgeoning freelance economy, not wrecking it.
