Last week, members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee introduced the Climate Leadership and Environmental Action for our Nation's (CLEAN) Future Act. This Act demands that the United States act aggressively on climate action ? ensuring net zero greenhouse gas emissions no later than 2050 and reducing pollution levels 50% by 2030, as the science requires.

This is the moment we've been waiting for. We have a short window to bring this to a vote, and what happens next depends on the environmental movement.

We know that if we want to avoid the most catastrophic consequences of climate change we have to cut carbon emissions to zero by 2050. But getting this bill to a vote ? and then winning ? is a major undertaking. We need to be pressuring undecided members. We need to be flooding House offices with calls and letters. Bottom line ? we need to fight like hell to show the 117th Congress that we mean business ? before it's too late.

To help pull this off, a group of donors have put up a triple match fund for this campaign, up to $100,000. We're doing everything we can to hit that target before the end of the month.

And, it puts a huge focus on environmental justice ? making environmental justice an integral part of the mission of all federal agencies, as well as substantial laws to protect frontline communities and communities of color who disproportionately bear the burden of the climate crisis.
