Friend,

Last year, President Biden announced his historic nomination of Representative Deb Haaland to lead the Department of the Interior. Haaland, a strong advocate for people, environmental protections and public lands, would be the first Native American person to serve as a Cabinet secretary.

But not everyone is excited. Big Oil sees her commitment to combating climate change as a threat to their profit margins, so they’re shamelessly spreading misinformation about her record and tightening the screws on their allies in the Senate to block her nomination.

It’s no surprise that Big Oil is pulling out all the stops to sink Deb Haaland’s confirmation. Over the past four years, they got used to their own lobbyists running regulatory agencies in the Trump administration.

But now, senators like Steve Daines and John Barrasso -- who had no problem confirming a literal oil lobbyist to run Interior -- are threatening to reject an Interior Secretary who will actually work to protect our environment and public lands. They’re carrying water for the fossil fuel industry, which writes some of the biggest checks to their campaigns.

We need to hold the senators attempting to block Haaland’s confirmation answerable. Will you share this story on social media to make sure Americans know which senators are more committed to fighting for fossil fuel companies than for their own constituents?
