Hi John,

As we pass our one year anniversary of entering COVID-19 lockdowns, I wanted to check in with you about the future of this crisis.

I know these past few months have been filled with immeasurable pain -- Americans are enduring an unfathomable loss of loved ones, unprecedented financial instability, children falling behind in education, small businesses closing, and many difficult circumstances.

We have so much work to do before our country can truly begin to heal, but that's why I'm so happy my colleagues and I were successful in passing the American Rescue Plan through Congress. Americans can finally receive their $1400 stimulus checks that the GOP has fought so hard against -- a desperately needed first step for us to return to normalcy in these coming months.

You know that fighting for schools safely re-opening has always been my top priority, so I'm extremely excited to see the ARP investing so much into education -- the $170 billion in relief we secured ensures that both K-12 and higher education establishments will be able to reopen safely and securely, and students will have the resources they need to catch up on their learning.

In the coming weeks and months, our work will continue, and I will not back down from fighting even harder to support people like you as we begin our road to recovery. I know things are incredibly challenging right now, but I truly do see a brighter future ahead -- I'm hoping you do too.

I'm always grateful that you've been a part of my team, especially throughout this challenging year, and I know we'll get through these hard times together.

Thank you for standing with me.

More soon,
Mary Gay
