Earlier this week, a new poll from Goucher College showed Governor Hogan continues to maintain overwhelming support for his leadership and balanced approach to the COVID-19 crisis. Around three-quarters of Marylanders approve of Governor Hogan’s response to the pandemic. Past survey’s have consistently found that Governor Hogan has the highest COVID-19 response approval rating of any governor in the nation.

With Maryland’s COVID-19 metrics dramatically improved, Governor Hogan has announced several steps to safely reopen Maryland, lifting capacity limits on restaurants, retail businesses, religious facilities, fitness centers, personal services, and indoor recreational establishments. The statewide masking mandate, physical distancing requirements, and other safety protocols will remain in place for restaurants and other businesses.

Former CDC Director Robert Redfield joined Governor Hogan for the announcement, praising the Governor’s actions as “sensible steps” that safely reopen the state in a “smart, purposeful way.”

The day after President Biden signed into law the nearly $2 trillion COVID Relief package, Governor Hogan penned an op-ed in USA Today [link removed], urging leaders in Washington to not miss the opportunity to pass a bipartisan infrastructure bill.

According to Governor Hogan, despite promises of unity from President Biden, “we’ve yet to see anything more than bipartisan words from the president…Democratic leaders seemed more interested in loading up the [COVID relief] bill with pet projects for special interest groups than actually securing any Republican votes.”

The window for bipartisanship in Washington is narrowing. Don’t let it close.

Earlier this week, Governor Hogan appeared on Politico's [link removed] "The Fifty: America's Governors" to discuss challenges faced in the COVID-19 response and recovery efforts and how to best rebuild the American economy at the state and local levels in the wake of the pandemic.

Our family greatly appreciates the president's comments condemning the awful rise in hate crimes against Asian Americans. It truly is "un-American and it must stop." pic.twitter.com/eyhoq6KrxT [link removed]
