Hello comrades!
We hope you and your community are warm and safe in preparation for the coming snowpocalypse. Your regularly-scheduled weekly newsletter is below, but first we have an announcement from Co-chair Elizabeth:
Comrades,
Unfortunately I am writing to tell you that I am resigning
as co-chair. It has been an honor and privilege to be of
service to the membership. I am resigning because my life circumstances
have changed significantly since I took this position on, and I am
attempting to practice what I preach: turning over responsibilities
that I can’t fully commit to. It was a difficult decision to make, but
ultimately I believe that it will be best for me as well as for the
chapter. I am not leaving the chapter, and you will continue to see me
around.
In the small group of people that I have already
notified of my resignation, I have been met with some very touching
statements of gratitude for my labor. I bring this up because I have
always diminished the work that I have done in and for this chapter, and
I hope that others will not do the same to themselves. I am just a
person who showed up and raised my hand. I did not know much about
socialism when I first came to DSA. I had my life experience of
capitalism and the thought that maybe there could be something
different—that another world was possible. Please know that regardless
of what you believe about yourself, there is a place for you in this
chapter and in leadership. I encourage each of you to attend some
trainings, get involved with committee work, or show up in whatever way
you are willing and able. What we seek will not come easily, and we need
the collective—including you—to get there.
In solidarity,
Elizabeth H.

☑️ Electoral Organizing in 2021 & beyond ☑️
The Electoral Committee officially kicked off all our organizing work for 2021. We are preparing for Aurora’s November municipal election, supporting the NEWR ballot initiative in Denver, hosting an organizing 101 training for the chapter and planning a panel event with Councilmembers Candi CdeBaca, Juan Marcano and Alison Coombs to hear their reflections on the first half of their terms. Get involved with us here!
🌹 Join us for the next DSA 101! 🌹
Are you a new member or newly returning to DSA? To Denver? To the Left? At this orientation, we’ll talk about what capitalism is, how it functions, and why organizing for socialism means building power—no matter who's in office. This is not a lecture, but a meeting for new and veteran organizers to learn how to hit the ground running and start organizing with DSA Los Angeles. We’re excited to chat with you! Pre-registration for this event is required, register here! After RSVPing, you'll receive a confirmation email with information on how to join.

COMMUNITY
Call To Support Leftist Transgender Community Project
Read the full thread here.
The Tenacious Unicorn Ranch is a conscious collective of trans and queer folks who operate an alpaca ranch in rural Southern Colorado, about 30 minutes outside Pueblo. After receiving national press, they've been targeted and harassed by an organized group of local bigots and militia members who have publicly threatened violence against community members and their associates. The militia routinely trespass on the property while armed. Community members who work off the ranch have had to give up their jobs out of fear.
Current solidarity requests: funds for security cameras and reinforced fencing on the property, volunteers to provide security at the ranch and volunteers with technical expertise to help set up security cameras. Here's a LinkTree of information, including the GoFundMe. And for lots of adorable alpaca pics, check out the ranch on Instagram. You can get involved with member action planning via Slack in th#wg-direct-action channel.
