If we're going to create a democracy that truly reflects the will of the people,
Congress must pass the For the People Act.

The For the People Act is a bill that would strengthen the Voting Rights Act, expand
vote-by-mail, increase funding for election security, and more. It was
the first piece of legislation the House of Representatives passed in 2019, and
now that there are Democratic majorities in both the House and Senate, turning
it into law is a real possibility.

For two years, then Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to bring the For the
People Act to the Senate floor for a vote. He called the bill a "power grab," and in a
sense, he was right. As its name suggests, the For the People Act is a power grab for the people.

The bill includes many common-sense policies that will strengthen our democratic
institutions and foster a political system that serves all of us. It will make
it easier for more people to vote (including by mail) and ensure that everyone's vote
counts. With Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress, it is incumbent on us to
pass the For the People Act and send it to President Biden's desk.
