COVID-19 relief is heading to American families across the country.
 

CBS News: “Biden signs $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan into law”

This week, I voted to pass the American Rescue Plan and now, President Biden has signed it into law.

This is a huge step forward in our country’s efforts to end the pandemic, sending relief to families and communities that need it the most so we can safely get back to work, back to school, and get vaccines in arms:

• Provides direct payments of $1,400 per person and extends the child tax credit, which is expected to cut childhood poverty by 45%
• Expands vaccine distribution, COVID-19 testing, and contact tracing to get the pandemic under control
• Sends critical funding to K-12 schools and higher education institutions and expands broadband access
• Supports small businesses by expanding the PPP program, providing emergency grants, and sending resources to restaurants
• Extends unemployment benefits and delivers support for veterans out of work due to the pandemic
• Provides assistance for renters and homeowners and helps ensure people have food security

The American Rescue Plan also includes a provision I’ve been fighting for since the beginning of the pandemic that will deliver urgently needed aid to state and local governments, help keep first responders on the job, help local communities weather the economic crises they’re facing, and ensure essential services can continue.

We’re at a turning point in this pandemic, and this major piece of legislation will help make sure we can get around the corner, put this pandemic in the rear view mirror, and rebuild.
