WORKING TOGETHER ON IMPORTANT ADVOCACY ISSUES
MCN has been at the forefront of a number of civic initiatives this year. One of the most important ones is advocating for Resolution 1257. This Resolution, introduced by Councilmembers Daniel Dromm, Ben Kallos, and Daneek Miller, will help bring religious diversity education and training to students and teachers from grades K-12 in New York City's public schools. This is crucial in order to fight the bigotry, bullying, and hate of religious minorities in our schools that are all too often commonplace. Check out the press conference we held about this on March 4th, 2021.

One of MCN's most impactful programs is our diversity education program. When we go into schools to educate students and teachers about the long history of Muslims in the United States and their contributions to this country, we're able to counter a lot of the misconceptions that continue to be prevalent today. Hence, we're asking all of our supporters to ask their local Councilmembers to help pass Resolution 1257 and with the help of our coalition partners, the Sikh Coalition, Tanenbaum Center, and the Interfaith Center of New York, this is easier than ever before. On top of this, MCN is working with a broad-based coalition of Muslim serving community and civic organizations to help bring a Mayoral Candidate Forum to our community. As this is an important election year and with almost 350,000 registered Muslim voters in New York City, we want to inform our communities of the different candidates and what their policy agendas are. Be sure to register for the event below.

Our MYNYC Youth are no strangers to demonstrating their civic leadership either. Over the past month, they've organized a number of events themselves ranging from Townhall discussions with public officials to learn about rank-choice voting, and even convening a youth interfaith environmental group working to clean up our communities.
Please continue to support our youth and our efforts to deepen the understanding of Muslim Americans in our city and nation. Only through your support can we continue to thrive as a community and build our civic leadership in all aspects of our lives. Make your tax-deductible donation today!
With Gratitude,
