Last week, I voted for an important bill to bring power back to the people.
The GOP used Pennsylvania as a scapegoat for their election fraud lies in November, and we had to fight harder than ever to make sure that every vote was counted and that our elections were free and fair.
That's why I am so proud to have helped the House pass the For The People Act. It would finally end partisan gerrymandering, expand mail voting, and establish automatic voter registration -- in short, it would make sure that as many people as possible have access to the ballot box so our democracy works as intended.
But with the GOP so determined to suppress the voices of voters -- especially voters of color -- we know they're going to fight this bill with everything they have, in the Senate, in the courts, and in our communities. They need gerrymandering and voter suppression to win, so they'll do everything they can to stop the For The People Act from becoming law.
Of course, this is a fight for justice at the ballot box, but it's also a fight for my seat. We're in a redistricting year, and I want to keep fighting for you, your family, and your community -- but there's no telling what underhanded gerrymandering tactics the PA GOP might resort to as they try to rearrange our districts to give themselves the best chance at victory.
We need to pass the For The People Act, but I also need to be prepared for what happens if Republicans in the Senate stop it in its tracks and I'm in for a harder reelection fight than ever before. You've been with me every step of the way, but I need to ask for your help again now.
