Progressives made the COVID-19 relief bill what it was, full of benefits and much needed relief.

We fought tooth and nail for the aspects of the bill that focused on working and middle class Americans, winning relief such as:

• Over $37 billion for rental, mortgage, and utility assistance

• A plan with $5,600 in additional stimulus checks + Child Tax Credit payments of $7,200 for a family of four with two kids under the age of 6 earning under $150,000

• A three month extension of the 15% increase in food stamp benefits

• A Earned Income Tax & Child Tax Credit expansion that will send cash to over 40 million low-income families

• Unemployment insurance benefits to over 18 million people 

• $5 billion specifically for Black farmers which would be the greatest federal investment since the Civil Rights Act

Without this bill, it would have taken years to get our economy back on track. While some policies did get left out due to Republican pushback, we know with you on our side we can continue making progress. We are still fighting for policies that got left out like a $15 minimum wage, stronger unemployment benefits, and more.
